  • Aosta and Macerata — a small paradise in retirement

“Made in Italy” — for many, this inscription is a kind of quality mark, and it does not matter on which products it is installed. And if about France and its Paris — “to see and die”, then about Italy — “who has not been here, has not lived yet.” This is probably why Italy attracts a large number of not only tourists, travelers, but also immigrants from different parts of the globe. Italy is multifaceted. North and South, as well as in most countries, differ significantly from each other. In the north, life is economically stable, with a high percentage of businessmen and entrepreneurs here; in the south, it is saturated, noisy, diverse. If you consider Italy not just as a tourist destination, but as a country for living, doing business or investing, then we dedicate this article to you. Our goal is not just to tell you whether it is good or bad here; our task is to reveal which cities in Italy are comfortable and prestigious to live in. We will focus on several aspects: infrastructure, security, demand for real estate and environmental friendliness.

Milan is the capital of luxury and world fashion. Style, beauty and culture are concentrated here. Milan has been noted more than once in the ranking of the best cities to live in. And this is not surprising: the largest concentration of wealthy taxpayers lives in this city. In general, the Lombardy region, where Milan is the main center, is famous for its cultural attractions. One famous opera La Scala is worth a lot. Despite the rather large flow of tourists, or maybe, on the contrary, thanks to it, Milan is a city with a well—developed infrastructure and a fairly low unemployment rate. Yes, real estate in the city is quite expensive, not everyone can afford it, but at the same time the owners of such housing understand that the rental business will bring them a stable income. However, speaking of security, it is worth noting that scammers are operating with might and main here, but this applies more to visiting tourists. Scammers figure them out right away and find different ways to “empty their pockets.” Of course, such a picture is not observed in the areas of wealthy citizens, since cameras are installed everywhere, and the presence of police stations also affects this. Milan has a large English-speaking diaspora: thousands of British and American emigrants, which also affects the opening of international schools where education is conducted in English. And for Italians who love their language very much, believe me, it means a lot.
The "Eternal City on Seven Hills" is a unique Rome. Whatever they call this beautiful historical city. On the one hand, it attracts with its architecture, historical monuments and artistic treasures, and on the other hand, the city is very densely populated, constant traffic jams, frequent strikes, because Rome is also a center for many international organizations, including the United Nations. However, you can live comfortably here too. The quality of life in the city is at a fairly high level: the economy is constantly developing, the treasury is replenished by thousands of expats, international students and year-round tourists. Rome welcomes everyone cordially. But there are areas that foreigners know little about, but the Roman elite is perfectly settled in them. And this is, first of all, the Parioli district. If you tell an Italian that you have a property in the area, you will feel like you have already been mentally equated with a "Roman brand". There are many exclusive places in this part of the city: clubs, restaurants, fitness centers. The demand for real estate in Parioli is high, despite the fact that housing is expensive. However, if you manage to become the owner of one of the apartments or villas in the area, then your life will definitely change. And having a "Parisian" commercial real estate is a guarantee that it will definitely bring you income.

If Rome is striking in its originality, then Florence fully corresponds to its meaning — "prosperous". The city has preserved the heritage of the Renaissance, it is not for nothing that it is called the cradle of this period. Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Galileo, Dante — anyone knows them today, even those who are not particularly knowledgeable in art, and it was Florence that gave them to the world. An interesting fact is that the wealthy people of Florence are descendants of wealthy members of guild families who were engaged in shoe craft, fabric production, wool trade, as well as descendants of the nobility associated with the jurisdiction. Agree, this is a significant indicator that for more than six centuries, the heirs not only did not "drain" the entire fortune, but, on the contrary, multiplied it. Florence's most popular area remains the Duomo Square. There are a large number of not only attractions and museums that all tourists dream of visiting, but also cafes, restaurants, clothing stores of world Italian brands. However, wealthy Florentines prefer a less noisy and lively part of the city. The Oltrarno district is located right on the embankment of the Arno River, where indigenous wealthy Italians live in comfort and pleasure. Of course, there are a lot of tourists in this area, and in principle there are many of them all over Italy, but still, due to the atmospheric streets and the embankment, this part of the city is more fashionable and elite. An important part of this area is the magnificent Pitti Palace, which is a museum complex in Florence: the Palatine Gallery, the Museums of Silver, Fashion and Modern Art. Transport in Florence is also working properly. And although this city is not as large as Rome and Milan, it has its own large airport and high-speed rail links to other cities in Italy. There are much fewer pickpocket crimes in Florence than in Milan and Rome, but still tourists should not lose their vigilance in crowded places.

From Florence we go to Turin, the first capital of Italy. The city lost its political weight along with the status of the "capital", but it remains a powerful economic center as before. Turin is home to the centers of the automotive and aerospace industries. Speaking of the city center, and many visitors choose it, it is worth noting that the main problems in it are the lack of parking spaces, noise and smog. Therefore, the Crocetta district is considered to be a more prestigious and aristocratic area, where rich Turinians live in old bourgeois buildings equipped inside according to all the canons of modern times. And real estate prices in this area are the highest throughout Turin. In addition to prestige, this part of the city is also the safest both day and night. And this is a significant fact, since some areas of Turin, to be honest, because of immigrants from disadvantaged countries, are quite restless. Crocetta's infrastructure is well developed: the center is nearby, which means that shops, schools, hospitals and other important facilities are also nearby, and the metro is located a few steps away. Turin is still the business center of Italy, so it is often visited by "business travelers", which is an indicative moment for the economy of Turin and the profitability of its citizens.

Let's focus on two more small towns in Italy, which are not talked about much, since their population is very small compared to large cities — 35 thousand and 50 thousand people. It is a city in the Alps — Aosta and a city in the province of Marche Macerata. These cities are not so popular with tourists, unlike Rome, Turin, Florence, but the Italians themselves call them a small paradise of wealthy seniors. Due to the fact that there is not such a powerful flow of tourists here, these cities are often chosen by wealthy pensioners for a comfortable life. There are plenty of picturesque views and attractions here.  The temperature is quite favorable throughout the year: warm winters and mild summers. And ecology is one of the main advantages of these regions. Its influence is also felt on the quality of food, which can really be safely called "eco". Real estate in Aosta and Macerata can be chosen for every taste: both apartments in an old building with its own historical flavor, and more modern housing. Both cities have a well-developed transport network, so you will not be cut off from the major centers of Italy. Well, the security here is much higher than in popular tourist destinations. Cities are small, so real estate prices depend not so much on the area as on the year of construction, historical significance, communications and the landscape near the house.

Every city in Italy is beautiful and interesting in its own way, each has distinctions on a social level: expensive, prestigious, safe and all in the same spirit. Many migrants choose Italy as their place of residence. But still, people are all different. If in doubt, take and write down all your wishes for yourself, and then write to our manager, and we will select interesting options for you.
